Hi Chris, Another amazing image! Any title? Any story behind the image? Love to post a news item on altpick. Best, Maria Maria Ragusa-Burfield | Founder-Owner Alternative Pick | http://altpick.com | maria@altpick.com |(212) 675-4176 Celebrating 20th year Anniversary in 2012!
Maria, the title is “Halo of Flies”. A bit of inspiration from the song with the same name by Alice Cooper. Wardrobe, Hair and makeup by Do Walschots who also was instrumental with casting. I was really looking for a very special face for this and after many model’s comps it turns out the perfect model happened to be Do’s daughter, Alex. Lighting was very simple with a small octabank from above and a beauty dish with diffuser from below. Camera used was a Hasselblad HD3II with 150mm lens. Minimal retouching was required as the model had beautiful skin. The flies were cg models and were rendered with Cinema 4d. I used a few processing techniques in photoshop to add to the creamy pastel look that was started with the lighting. As a boy I spent 8 years in a Catholic school and the look I was after was reminiscent of the illustrations on the “Holy Cards” we would receive for doing well in class.

I love your work. It seems limitless. Now, if only you would put notes with the image, describing how you retouched.
